US rates of those diagnosed with MS 250,000 - 300,000

UK rates of those diagnosed with MS 85,000

Australia rates of those diagnosed with MS 18,000

Canada rates of those diagnosed with MS 55,000-75,000

Although MS is not hereditary statistics show if one person in a family has MS, that persons first-degree relatives—parents, children, and siblings—have a 1 to 3 percent chance of getting the disease ( compared with less than a 0.1 percent ). But it should also be noted that MS could well be environmentally triggered so stats may well be skewed

Multiple Sclerosis is a chronic, inflammatory, demyelinating disease that affects the central nervous system with attacks to the nervous system by the body's own immune system.

Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of the brain and spine are often used during the diagnostic process as they highlight areas of demyelination (lesions) as bright spots on the image.

Double or blurred vision
Numbness or tingling in any part of the body
loss of co-ordination

Temporary blindness
Fatigue and dizziness
Distortion or loss of sense of touch
Limb weakness, spasticity and pain
